The Way Colleen Sees It

There’s no better way to live your life glass half full than by always expecting the worse. If you’re thinking that only the worst possible outcome can occur, you will either be prepared for it when it does or be extremely happy when it doesn’t. Either way, you are training yourself to be a survivor and you will be happy to be living the life you lead and your cup will feel like it’s overflowing.

  1. I agree with you it is nice to not be disappointed when things do not work out, and it also makes for a pleasant surprise when things work out in your favor unexpectedly. The reason I disagree with this view of live is based on the power of positive thinking. I believe that by looking for the best in each situation and creating your own good fortune, rather than letting it happen to you. Just wanted you to see the other side of the spectrum.

  2. I think the key to what you're saying is being hopeful, so if something doesn't work out, you still have faith that there will be other opportunities and you don't let that one isolated event get you down.

  3. Whoa! This was a bit intense for me however, something that needed to be said. I often tell myself to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. This blog made me see that aspect in a totally new way. I never realized I was training myself to be a survivor. Nice outtake on that one. Your thoughts were complex yet, very understandable. Along with that I enjoyed how your message was one on an issue not too many of us think of. Way to go.

  4. This is so true! I constantly do this myself for those exact reasons, I constantly expect the worse because either way, I'll be prepared for the worst or totally surprised by the good. But at the same time, I think that if you do this to yourself, it can hinder your ability to be happy because you always think the worst will happen. I dont know?....

  5. I can see this from your point of view. It's an interesting point of view to take. It is important to prepare for the negative things in life in order to transform them into positive learning experiences.
